Is Thermage® Right for You?

The best candidates for Thermage® often feel happy with their appearance overall, yet have noticed some softening through the jowls or looseness through the skin in the upper neck. Women who are troubled by some slight amount of excess tummy skin following pregnancy may also be good candidates for Thermage®. Thermage® cannot be used on areas that have tattoos, and the results are best in those women and men who are young enough that their skin’s collagen is still fairly responsive, and who have thin to medium skin thickness.

Thermage® Costs

The costs associated with Thermage® can vary depending on the size of the treatment area and other considerations. Your total costs will include Dr. Kay’s fee and your initial treatment session, although some patients may wish to enhance their results further with additional appointments. Since Thermage® is performed as an outpatient procedure, costs are greatly reduced by not requiring anesthesia or the use of a surgical facility. Dr. Kay and his staff will go over all the available options for cosmetic surgery financing that can help make your procedures even more affordable.

What to Expect

Thermage® can deliver results that range from quite subtle to very dramatic in the right candidates, helping you to look refreshed and younger without incisions or scars. Because Thermage® can address a number of different age-related concerns, you may opt for treatment in one or several areas:

You can expect your treatment session to last anywhere from a few minute up to 2 hours, depending on the size of the area being treated. During treatment a special handheld device passes over the skin’s surface that delivers radiofrequency waves to the supportive tissues below. You may feel a warm sensation during treatment as Thermage® works to lift and tighten the skin and soft tissues.

Although some women and men look slightly flushed right away after their appointment, most patients can return to work and their daily routines immediately. For example, a significant amount of excess skin through the abdomen may be better addressed with a tummy tuck, while more pronounced jowling could require a facelift instead. Your Recovery & Results

1. Most women and men see an improvement right away after their Thermage® treatment, but your results typically become more pronounced over time as increased collagen production will continue for the next several weeks. Your skin may look red after treatment, or you may notice some swelling (especially if treating the eye area), but these are temporary and should dissipate quickly.
2. The results of your Thermage® session should peak between 3 to 6 months as your skin takes on a firmer, more lifted quality, smoothing away wrinkles and refining facial contours.
