Silver Spring Nose Surgery FAQ’s

What is a Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty, which is known as a nose job is a cosmetic procedure that can reshape your nose.

What could I expect from having a Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty can be performed for cosmetic reasons such as:

  • Change the shape of your nasal tip or bridge of your nose
  • Reduce or increase or reshape the size of your nose
  • Narrow your nostril size
  • Shorten the length between your nose and upper lip

Rhinoplasty can also be performed for reconstructive reasons such as:

  • Help alleviate breathing problems
  • Helps relieve snoring symptoms
  • Correct an injury or a birth defect

How can Nose Reshaping reduce the size of your nose?

Nose reshaping can reduce a hump on your nasal bridge and improve your contour to make your nose straight. If you’re nose hands too low, then your nose can be shortened to give your face a refreshed, uplifted appearance.

Do you always have to fracture the nose in all Rhinoplasty?

No, you only fracture the nose when there is a hump or bump at the bridge of the nose or any other reason to reduce the nasal bridge.

Where do you perform the Rhinoplasty?

Dr. Kay performs Rhinoplasty procedures in an outpatient facility. You will be returning home or to our concierge hotel for recovery.

What kind of anesthesia is used for nasal reshaping?

Rhinoplasty is most commonly done under general anesthesia, which is where you are put to sleep. Nasal reshaping can be done under sedation, but Dr. Kay will discuss the best options for you on an individualized plan for your procedure.

When can I return to work?

You should be able to return to work within 7-10 days after nasal reshaping.

When is Rhinoplasty covered by insurance?

If you have an injury to the nose and there is documentation relating to that injury, then your insurance will review the case to see if this is a covered service for each individual plan. If you have a documented airway obstruction, deviated septum then your insurance will review it in relation to your insurance plan.

What outcome should I expect with my Rhinoplasty?

Your nose will be reshaped to enhance your facial proportions which can lift your spirits and make you look and feel better about yourself. If you are having reconstructive nasal procedure to improve your breathing, or snoring issue then you will feel relieved after your procedure.
