Are Injectable Fillers Right for You?

Women and men who can benefit from injectable fillers can be of almost any age and wish to address aspects of their facial contours that they feel could use improvement. Most commonly, candidates for injectable fillers are unhappy with sunken cheeks, thin lips, or deep wrinkles. Injectable fillers can also be used to fill in acne scars and other imperfections for a smoother complexion.

Injectable fillers can:

  • Restore lost volume in soft facial tissues
  • Improve facial contours by enhancing the lips, cheekbones or brow
  • Decrease the appearance of pits or scars
  • Restore plumpness in hands that appear aged
  • Work in combination with other skin rejuvenation treatments for more comprehensive results
  • Create a younger look with more balanced facial features

Injectable Filler Costs

The costs of injectable fillers may vary depending on the type of filler used, the number of injections needed and the size of the treatment area. Dr. Kay and his staff will discuss all of your options for cosmetic surgery financing to help make your treatment as affordable as possible.

What to Expect

Injectable fillers come in many different types. Dr. Kay offers a full range of fillers for various needs:

  • JUVÉDERM®: A hyaluronic acid (HA) filler that replenishes lost soft tissue volume to eliminate pronounced wrinkles.
  • Restylane®: A more cohesive HA filler than JUVÉDERM® that’s ideal for building up volume.
  • Perlane: Slightly thicker than Restylane®, Perlane™ may offer results that last a bit longer.
  • RADIESSE®: A gel filler containing microspheres of calcium hydroxylapatite that stimulate more collagen production for longer-lasting results.

Although formulated differently, all injectable fillers can help smooth facial wrinkles, diminish imperfections like scars or enhance volume in soft facial tissue. With the right fillers in the right locations, injectable fillers can help you look radiant and rejuvenated.

At your consultation, we will discuss your cosmetic goals with you so he can create a plan for your injectable filler treatment. Injectable fillers are often used in combination with other medical spa treatments, and can also enhance the results of facial cosmetic surgery.

Injectable fillers typically take no more than 30 minutes and so can be done as a lunchtime treatment. Usually no anesthetic is required. To minimize bruising, it is best to avoid alcohol, aspirin and other blood-thinning substances for one week prior to your appointment. Minimal soreness may result, but most patients can return to work the same day.

Your Recovery & Results

While there is potential for mild bruising and swelling after injectable fillers, downtime is minimal, and patients are generally able to return to their normal routine by the next day. Many injectable fillers offer immediate results, although it may take up to a week for swelling to fully subside.

Injectable fillers should lend you a younger, refreshed appearance that is subtle enough to look completely natural. Frown lines can be smoothed out while replaced volume can enhance your facial contours. Augmented lips can bring harmony to your features and pits and scars can be filled in for a smoother complexion.
