Hair on the face and body, while completely natural, can be embarrassing in growth that’s too heavy or in the wrong locations. Conventional methods of hair removal, such as shaving and waxing, are typically inconvenient and can result in ingrown hairs or razor burn. Laser hair removal provides a more permanent solution to face and body hair that can leave your skin smooth and hair-free.

Laser hair removal is a quick office procedure offers a long-term alternative to shaving and waxing for both men and women, and can be effective nearly anywhere on the face or body. Prior to your procedure, you should stop plucking or waxing so enough of the hair root is in a position to absorb light from the laser.
The procedure itself is relatively painless, although some patients experience mild discomfort. We will trim the hair to a few millimeters above the skin’s surface and adjust the laser equipment based on your hair pigment and skin tone. We may ask you to wear appropriate eye protection. A cold gel or cooling device will be applied to the exterior of your skin to help the laser light penetrate into the hair follicles. We will then apply a pulse of light to the treatment area.
Smaller areas like the face can be treated in only a couple of minutes, while larger areas like the back may take up to an hour. After the treatment is complete, you may be given an ice pack or anti-inflammatory cream to assist with any discomfort.
Your next session should be scheduled 4 to 6 weeks later, since each individual hair must be treated during its active growth cycle in order for LHR to be effective. While a noticeable decrease in hair growth is likely after only a couple of sessions, most patients continue treatment for 4 to 8 sessions until they are completely satisfied with their results.
Laser hair removal requires virtually no downtime, and most patients simply return to their routine immediately after their appointment. You may notice some irritation or redness in the treated area, but this usually fades quickly. You will need to keep the treatment areas out of direct sun exposure, and we may ask you to use a special skincare lotion or cream. The treated hair will gradually fall out over the course of the next month.
Most patients see a significant reduction in hair growth soon after their first or second treatment. After a full complement of sessions is completely finished, your skin will be permanently hair-free. Laser hair removal offers men and women the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of smooth skin without the ongoing commitment of shaving or waxing.
